Prerequisite Homework (to be brought to the 1st class meeting):
- Share 2-3 examples of photographers or photographs that inspire your current practice.
- Bring 5-10 images from your own portfolio to share with the group.
- Each artist will have 5-8 minutes to present and discuss their homework images.

8/28 (2.5 hr class, In-Studio): Printing & Sequencing for exhibition, + group critique.
9/4 (2.5 hr class, In-Studio): Printing & Sequencing for books & ephemera, + open-studio, + group critique
9/11 (1 hr. class, CLASS MEETS ON-LINE): Presenting the digital portfolio, + group critique.
9/18 (1.5 hr class, In-Studio): Final Group Critique + celebrating our work.
About the Instructor:
Jaizi Abedania is a lens-based, mixed-media performance artist exploring intersecting concepts of identity, history, and migration through personal narrative. She has exhibited, taught, and practiced in San Francisco, New York, Brooklyn, The Bronx, and Seattle, supporting artists and programs promoting accessibility to the arts. Jaizi has been teaching mixed-media art at the Brooklyn Museum since 2018 and has also served as a Teaching Artist at the Brooklyn Children's Museum. She has years of experience teaching traditional and after-school art in historically under-represented communities of the San Francisco Bay Area. Currently, she is a professor of the arts at Adelphi University, Long Island, NY, teaching photography and digital imaging.
Jaizi holds an MFA in Photography, Video, and Related Media from the School of Visual Arts, NY; a Credential in Art Education from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA; and a BS in Comprehensive Design from the University of California, Davis. Her photo and video works have been exhibited at Flatiron Gallery (Chelsea NY), Bumbershoot Music & Arts Festival (Seattle WA), Adelphi University, and Brooklyn Museum. Her other interests include live music performance, sound recording & production, mixed-media installation, and skateboarding.
